Anne of Green Gables

Anne of Green Gables Review

So I recently picked up and read Anne of Green Gables. I have read a lot of books feature strong young female characters. As a young women I distinctly remember enjoying Little Women, and most all of the Jane Austin classics. I was under the impression that this book would fall into a similar category. However , upon reading 2.5 books of the series I am left severally disappointed. I am usually a person who picks up a book and cannot stop reading until it is completed, either one because it is a page turner or two because I keep reading in the hope that the author will eventually redeem themselves or the characters...in this case I have just been left bored and find the books a chore.

Anne is to flighty and lively and then basically becomes a dull old school maid....not interesting or imaginative in the least....and the other characters lack the ability to perform a supporting role. Even the romance is dull and long drawn out...their is no strong bond development between the characters that makes you wonder if a relationship will work out...and when it does it seems to predictable. The first installment of the series was decent and I should have stopped there.

Not sure what I am going to read next, I am a sucker for classics....so I will keep you all posted.

New Year Lets Get Posting!

So life has been crazy busy again!

We are winding down from the Holiday season and getting ready for winter to finally hit. The kids both got new snow boots and pants and we are super excited about taking them up the volcano for some sledding. Mt. Etna does not have a full blanket of snow yet. We were hoping to go New Years weekend but all the snow melted in the days prior.

On another note I have been cooking like crazy. Over Thanksgiving I prefect a home made roll recipe thanks to the help of Pinterest. During the fall I got rave reviews on a pumpkin poke cake, while Christmas was less exciting I have also been trying my hand at some Asian cuisine.

Additionally we are starting to get ready for a new move. I have begun the process of sorting out the house and getting ready to dispose of items we no longer use, through both yard sales and donations. Currently our guest room is piled high with toys, clothes, and random things that just don't serve a function for us.

My youngest has begun new speech lessons through the local school system. We have seen some improvement every now and then but as of late he seems to be losing clarity. I believe that both of his tubes have finally fallen out and I am wondering if he has water in his ear drums again. I guess its time for another follow-up with the ENT.

What else happened in the this crazy life?? This week...hmm I worked late, killed the battery on my car, finally got some Christmas presents in the mail....made sure I had food out for at least 50 people 2 days in a row at work....and tried to keep the house in order....yea doesn't seem like much writing it down now but trust me I am pooped!!
